Life Events in Dyffryn Clwyd MA
Life Events: Baptism ~ Weddings ~ Funerals
It is a joy of the church to journey with people and mark life events. There are all sorts of moments in life that you might want to mark and the church can help you do that: from naming a child, to renewing marriage vows, to blessing a new home. Below are the three most common life events marked in church. If you would like to mark something else please do get in touch to talk it through.
Llawenydd i’r eglwys yw teithio gyda phobl a nodi digwyddiadau bywyd. Mae yna bob math o eiliadau mewn bywyd efallai yr hoffech chi eu nodi a gall yr eglwys eich helpu chi i wneud hynny: o enwi plentyn, i adnewyddu addunedau priodas, i fendithio cartref newydd. Isod mae’r tri digwyddiad bywyd mwyaf cyffredin wedi’u nodi yn yr eglwys. Os hoffech chi farcio rhywbeth arall, cysylltwch â ni i drafod y mater.
Baptism – Bedydd
Baptism (also known as Christening) marks a very significant event in the life of any adult, young person or child who receives this Sacrament. It lies within the ‘Rites of Christian Initiation’ (which also include Confirmation, usually at a later stage).
Through Baptism, we begin a life long relationship with God and His Church which opens us to His love and grace and assures us of the Lord’s friendship for ever.
Generally, we celebrate Baptism within the context of our Sunday worship at any one of our churches throughout the Dyffryn Clwyd Mission Area, which means effectively that there can be Baptisms on most Sundays through the year. It is our preference to celebrate a Baptism as part of Sunday worship as it is a beautiful opportunity for the congregation within your preferred church to welcome the person being baptised to the church community and family.
If you are interested in Baptism for yourself or for a young person or child in your care, please contact one of our clergy or fill in the enquiry form below.
Funerals – Angladdau
Of all human events, death concerns us the most deeply. When death approaches, whether it be our own or that of someone close to us, it immediately becomes our principal and overriding concern. If you or a loved one are preparing for death and would like our support please contact any of our clergy.
When people die, their family and friends suffer loss, shock and grief. Grief is like a wound which requires time and care if it is to heal. Nevertheless, God’s love continues through our loss and in our grieving. The funeral service aims to strengthen our assurance of this. On the one hand, Christians know that Christ has triumphed over death, and that therefore we need no longer fear it. The last event in our lives leads on to something richer. On the other hand, when we have loved deeply and received love, especially when this love has been lasting, the grief and pain suffered can be extreme. The loved person will not be encountered again in this life. The future seems uncertain and forbidding. It can be almost impossible for the sufferer to accept the loss. Those in grief need to be strengthened by prayers at the time of death and their grieving before the funeral. A funeral in one of our churches normally occurs if the deceased lived in Dyffryn Clwyd, or died in the Mission Area, or had a connection to the church and area. Arrangements are normally done through the funeral director of your choice; simply inform them of you preference for a church funeral and if you have a desire of a particular church of ours.
Fees apply for church funeral services and are reviewed annually by the Representative Body of the Church in Wales. The funeral director has all fee details .
Wedding – Priodas
Get married in Church: To have and to hold from this day forward
Thinking of getting married – congratulations! A church marriage service will welcome you into a new way of life that is a Sacrament – God blesses your union and gives you help (or grace) to live by the serious promises and commitment your vows express. Wedding rings are the part of this new way of life we can see – God’s presence in the marriage we cannot see but is still real and makes the difference that marks a Church Wedding out from all others.
If you live in anywhere in Dyffryn Clwyd Mission Area (or have a qualifying connection) you may be able to get married in any of our churches, after appropriate preparation (such as planning meetings with our clergy, the calling of your Banns of Marriage and careful thought about what is right for you as you get married).
For more details on getting married in any of our churches and the cost, please either contact one of the clergy directly or fill in the enquiry form below. Congratulations on your engagement and every blessing in the future!
